Zula Faye Owens

Zula Faye Owens, 75 of Claypool, Indiana passed away at 3:36 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in her residence after a long battle with cancer. She was born on June 9, 1939 in Brethitti County, Kentucky to Weldon and Edith (Burton) Minnix. After moving her at the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Edward Owens. They were married December 7, 1957 in Roanoke, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2012. She worked at Chamberlin Products, South Whitley; Whitley Products, Pierceton and Lyall Electric, Larwill, Indiana. But most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was the “Mother of All”. She enjoyed garage sales and second hand stores where she found most of her hummingbirds and collector plates. She enjoyed sitting on her deck, watching the birds feed on the many feeders and her trumpet bush. Zula is survived by her daughter, Hazel (and spouse Tony) McKenzie, Claypool; her son, Anthony (and spouse Kathy) Owens, Warsaw; seven grandchildren, A.J., Austin and Michaela McKenzie, Claypool and Nikkole, Amanda and Bryce Owens, Warsaw and Brandy Owens, North Webster; a great granddaughter, Emma McKenzie; three sisters, Freda (and spouse Ken) Boggs, South Whitley, Brenda Norris, Boswell, Oklahoma, Carolyn (and spouse Barry) Sapp, Sidney and two brothers, Lowell (and spouse Audrey) Minnix and Ralph (and spouse Pam) Minnix, both of Pierceton. She also leaves behind two fur babies, Capone and Sissy. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday, June 30, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the funeral chapel in Pierceton. Memorial contributions may be made to Kosciusko Homecare and Hospice, P.O.
