Wilma Jean Burkett

Wilma Jean (Barger) Burkett age 61 of Pierceton, IN passed away June 2, 2011 at 5:01 pm in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born May 26, 1950 in Greenville, OH to Glen and Lena (McGaughey) Barger. She resided in Pierceton, IN for 43 years. On July 25, 1970 in Pierceton, IN she was united in marriage to Gene Burkett, who survives. She worked at Whitley Products for 15 years and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Pierceton Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary. Wilma was a 1968 graduate of Columbia City High School.. Wilma is survived by her husband Gene Burkett of Pierceton, IN; daughter Robin (and spouse David) Engle of Pierceton, IN; sisters Kay (and spouse John) Reedy of Plymouth, IN; Sandy ( and spouse Carl) Tuncil of Warsaw, IN; Patty Barger of Harrisburg, PA and a brother Earl Wayne (and spouse Jan) Barger of Leesburg, IN. In addition, she has 4 grandchildren Larkin and Starlin Hicks, Christian Engle and Jaime King. She was preceded by her parents and a brother Eddie Barger. Wilma was an avid NASCAR fan. She loved her family and grandkids and dogs J.J., Blaze and Junior. She also enjoyed spending time on her ATV. Funeral services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 am. Reverend Dudley Waites will officiate the services.
