Willodean K. 'Billie' Shoemaker Cochern

Willodean K. 'Billie' Shoemaker Cochern, 100, of Claypool, Indiana, died on 8/25/2010 at 1:46 PM at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born on February 19, 1910 in Silver Lake, Indiana. Willodean was born to Francis and Anna Glenn (Kemper) Rager. On December 24th, 1930, she married Robert Shoemaker who died on March 15th, 1936. She then married Bert Cochern Sr. on May 25th, 1946 who died on April 25th, 1989.Billie lived in Claypool for 80 years, where she taught school for 38 of those years. Besides family, she left behind over a thousand students that were very important to her.She had her 100th year birthday party at Miller's nursing home in Februiary, over 116 of her family and friends attended to let her know how much she had touched their lives. Many of those there, had her as a teacher and the family would like all the students that she had over the years to know what you have meant to her. Til the very end of her life, one of her favorite topics was her classrooms and students. She had a special and happy career and you were all a part of it.Surviving are a daughter, Alinda Ann Skea, Warsawson, Jon Shoemaker, Larwill9 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 19 Great-Great Grandchildren and 2 nieces. She was known as “Gammie” to us.She was preceded in death by a son, grandson and great grandson. Services will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, Indiana on Monday, August 30th, 2010 at 4:00 pm with Pastor Ralph Dotson officiating.. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, Indiana. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is in charge of arrangements. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice.
