William Bill Irvin Chapel, formerly of 1145 Country Club Drive, Warsaw, Indiana, died in his Lake Wales, Florida home on December 16, 2013. He was ninety-two years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Marjorie Chapel, his sister Betty Bulla and his wife, Dolly Chapel. He is survived by his sister Carol, his sons, William E. Chapel and wife Rebecca of Edwardsville, Illinois, Jerry Michael Chapel and his wife Dot of Brown County, Indiana and Patrick Lee Chapel of Vestal, New York, his grandchildren, Kelli (Chapel) Linkis, Dr. Kevin Chapel, Jason Chapel, Tasha Chapel, Geoff Chapel and Neil Chapel and great grandchildren Devin and Danica Linkis and Jaden Chapel. Bill lead his life with true integrity and a phenomenal work ethic. As an employee of the Indiana Conservation Department, sales representative, joint owner of C and T Builders and then owner of Kosko Manufacturing, he worked hard and conducted business with impeccable honesty. He also earned his private pilots license. He was extremely interested in local and national political, economic and foreign policy issues. He believed that America was its finest when adhering to the principals of the Constitution. He served as President of the School Board, President of the Kosciusko County Welfare Board, Director of Kosciusko County Civil Defense, and President of the Kosciusko County Shrine Club. He was a member of Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73 and Breadings Cigar Store Breakfast and Lunch Crowd and was active in Indiana Politics. He and his wife, Dolly, Started the First Teen Age Republican Club in Indiana. A member of the Indiana University Pershing Rifles, he wanted to serve in the military but was unable to due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. Bill and Dolly shared a love of nature. They seldom found a flower, tree or bird that together they could not identify. Hours were spent outdoors tending their garden and raising bees. Bills greatest commitment was to his wife Dolly, in his own health failing, he lovingly cared for her during her four year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor Herb Schlenker officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, December 21, at 10:00 AM in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Glen Hall officiating. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with local arrangements.
