Warren H. Tatter, Sr.

Warren H. Tatter, Sr. age 82 passed away on Sunday September 9, 2012 at 2:33 AM in his residence. He was born March 2, 1930 to Gustav and Grace (Balogh) Tatter, Jr. in Chicago, IL. He was a Warsaw, IN resident since 1935. He faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy aboard the USNS Geiger and USNS Sturgis. He was honorably discharged December 20, 1954 after three years and eleven months of service. He was united in marriage to Shirley Kirkbride on June 6, 1954. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church over 50 years where he served in the Choir and on various committees. Music was an important part of his life and he sang for several years in a Barbershop Quartet and he was a former member of the Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus. Warren was also active in shooting sports and was an endowment life member of the National Rifle Association, a life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and a member of the Kosko Gun Club shooting trap and skeet in the Winter League. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, gardening. Active in the Kosciusko County Republican Party, he served as a poll worker and precinct committeeman for several years. He was a Kosciusko County Councilman from 1990 to 1994 for District 3.He served on the Oakwood Cemetery Board of Regents since 1982 where he held the office of President several times. In 2011 he was appointed as the Kosciusko County GOP Man of the Year. Warren is survived by his wife Shirley, two sons Warren Jr. Tatter and spouse Debbie of Rochester IN., Brian Tatter of Port Charlotte, FL., a daughter Diane Tatter of Goshen IN. Three grandchildren, Derek Tatter and spouse Maggie of Carmel, IN., Adam Tatter of Rochester, IN., and Danielle Stewart of Fort Wayne, IN. One great grand-daughter Sabrina Tatter of Carmel, IN. Also surviving is one sister Millicent Spilly and spouse Arnold of Carmel, IN., a brother Milton Tatter and spouse Karen of Loveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Christopher Marshall. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 13th 2012, 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church Warsaw, IN. with Pastor Dave Hummel officiating. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday September 12th, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Tatter Family Lot, Oakwood Cemetery Warsaw, IN. The Warsaw American Legion Post # 49, the Warsaw VFW Post #1126 and the Army Reserve National Guard Detachment will render military Honors.
