Virginia Slone, 83, of 900 Provident Drive, Warsaw, Indiana, died on 4/4/2010 at 2:37 AM at Mason Healthcare Center, Warsaw, Indiana. She was born on May 30, 1926 in Floyd County, Kentucky. Virginia was born to John and Judy (Poe) Slone in Floyd County, Kentucky. On September 14, 1946 she married Chris Allen in Pikeville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1959. She loved time with family and friends, attending church when she was able, always giving or trying to help someone and also sewing quilts before her sickness. She was grandma to so many she met and a blessing to many she came in contact with along the way. She got the nickname High Kicker in exercises at Mason's. She loved those at Mason's and they became like family to her. She would refer to them as “my friends”. Mason's became a safe haven for her as she would tell everyone “That is my home and they're good to me.” She was also thankful for the care she received from Hospice. Thank you to all. She is survived by 1 daughter: Judy (Allen) spouse Charles Pennington, Warsaw, Indiana; 4 sons: John (spouse Robin) Allen of Ohio; Chris (spouse Peggy) Allen of Leesburg, Indiana; Henry (spouse Tanya) Allen of Tennessee; Bucky Slone of Warsaw and 1 step-son Harvey (spouse Linda) Allen of Pierceton, Indiana. One sister Daisy Slone of Burket, Indiana; and 2 brothers: Isom (spouse Phyllis) Slone of Warsaw and Clifford (spouse April Baxter) Slone of Burket. She was preceded in death by her precious parents, one granddaughter, one sister Betty Adair and 6 brothers: Joe, Clyde, Henry, Lonzo, Robert, and Monroe Slone. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Junior (spouse Deb) Pennington of Winona Lake; John (spouse Allie) Pennington of Texas; Christy (spouse Blayne) Woodcock of Warsaw; Tim (spouse Jenny) Pennington of Bristol, Indiana; Jake (spouse Marie) Pennington of Florida; Chris Junior (spouse Sherry)Allen of Warsaw; Missy (spouse Todd) Cornett of Mentone, Indiana; Billy Music of Warsaw;Brian (spouse Jennifer); Tyler (spouse Amber) and Seth (spouse Deb) Allen all of Ohio; John Slone and Jennifer (spouse Lester) Miller of Warsaw; Deborah Allen of Pierceton. She was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter Rochelle Genevieve Allen. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua and Breanna Woodcock of Warsaw; Lori Pennington of Winona Lake; Addison and Presley Pennington and Colin Shrock all of Bristol; Azalea and Kyelee Pennington of Fort Wayne; Jonathan Pennington and Nathan Totten of Texas; Chrissy and Michael Pozorski, Todd Jr., Brittney and Tiffany Cornett all of Mentone; Billy III Music of Ohio and Kimmy Music of Warsaw; Aiden Miller of Warsaw. She leaves behind many special friends, several nieces and nephews including a special niece Pat Wallen of Warsaw who helped her Aunt Virginia before she went into Mason's. She will be missed by many but Earth's Loss this day was truly Heaven's Gain. 1 Corinthians 15:55 (O Death Where Is Thy Sting? Services will be held at God's Highway to Heaven Church, Warsaw, Indiana on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 2:30 P.M.. Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. until time of service on Thursday at the church with a church service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
