Virgil E. Wise, 89 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 8:15 am, Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana. On August 20, 1922, Virgil was born to Merl and Eva (Ebersole) Wise in Warsaw. He married Jewel A. Davis on July 7, 1946 in Greenwood, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2006. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Virgil served in the U.S. Army during World War II, European Theater from 1942 1946. He was with the 9th Army Heavy Artillery as a forward observer. He was former owner of Southside Repair Shop, Atwood, Indiana. He was past president and 50 year charter member of Atwood Lions Club and a lifetime member of American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw. He was also a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood. Virgil is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. There will be a private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by the American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126 and the ARNG. Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry will officiate the service. Visitation is not planned. Memorial contributions are to be made to Atwood Lions Club or Donors Choice.
