Violet Mae Hursey Hinkson

Violet M. Hursey Hinkson, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Born on November 26, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, Violet an only child born to Jasper Turner and Alma (Metzer) Flory. She graduated from high school in Kansas. Violet continued her education by taking one year of college course and taking CPA courses.

She would decide to move to Warsaw, Indiana to be closer to family. On April 4, 1965, Violet married Tom Hursey. He would proceed her in death on July 1, 1983.

Violet worked as an independent CPA in the area and for Zimmer until her retirement in 2001. While working at Zimmer, she met Jack Hinkson Sr. The two remained great friends for over 25 years until she finally said “Yes” and they would get married in Henderson, NV on June 9, 2016.

She loved camping, knitting and crocheting. Violet loved to send cards to friends, family and church members, and never missed a single occasion. She was a faithful member of Warsaw Family Worship Center.

Violet is survived by her husband, Jack; her children: Garth Hursey of Warsaw, Ben (Bobbie) Hursey of Henderson, NV and Shannon Hursey of Warsaw; 5 step-children; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well as lots of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Tom.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 10-12 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Pastor William Whitaker officiating.

Burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery, 1500 S State Road 205, Columbia City.
