Vera Marcille Homan

Vera Marcille Homan, 96 of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 11:25 pm July 18, 2016 in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake, Indiana. On October 18, 1919, she was born in Milford, Indiana, Kosciusko County, to Lewis Franklin and Pearl May (Suter) Rule. She was united in marriage to John B. Homan on March 19, 1939 at a farm near Claypool. He preceded her in death in 1988. Vera was a farm wife, mother and caretaker for many nieces and nephews. She retired from Whitley Products, South Whitley, Indiana. Vera is survived by three grandchildren, Kevin E. (and Myra) Mast, Pierceton, Lisa A. Mast, Warsaw and Darrel D. Mast, South Whitley; four great grandchildren, Heather A. (and Ken) Gero Havelock, North Carolina, David Sainer, Pierceton, Jared (and Emma) Sainer, Warsaw, Stephanie (and Randy Rose) Campbell, Pierceton; seven great-great grandchildren, Brock Sainer, Warsaw, Calvin Ballard, Havelock, North Carolina, Miley Ballard, Havelock, North Carolina, Jaycie Mast, Arizona, Irelynn Pearl Gero, Havelock, North Carolina, Griffin Rose, Pierceton, Ashlynn Sainer, Warsaw; her son-in-law, Rex D. Mast, Warsaw; her sister-in-law, Glea Rule, Columbia City and many nephews and nieces. Vera was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Ina Jeanette Mast; her great grandson, Derrik Mast; four brothers, Wilbur, Junior, Lewis and Roscoe Rule and six sisters, Velma, Ethel and Arvada Rule, Irene Simison, Ina Shilling and Agnes Schooley. Service will be held at 9:30 am Friday, July 22, 2016 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Mark Fishburn officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool. Vera was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the family encourages the wearing of Cubs apparel to Vera’s service. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the funeral chapel.
