Velma Rae Blackwell

Velma Rae Blackwell, 78, of Winona Lake, Indiana, died on 2/11/2011 at 3:41 pm at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Indiana. She was born on December 11, 1932 in DuBois, Pennsylvania. Velma was the daughter of Harry and Helen (Hepfner) Reasinger. She had been a resident of Kosciusko County since 1951. She attended Grace College in Winona Lake.On September 6, 1954, she married Walter Emmanuel Blackwell. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2010.Velma was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren, Winona Lake. She was also a life member of Warsaw Rifle and Pistol Club, United States Practicing Shooting Association and was also a NRA National Matches Stat Officer.She is survived by 5 Children; Sharon Wilhite, WarsawDavid (and wife Cathy) Blackwell, WarsawStephenie Charles, Winona LakeJohn (and wife Kelly) Blackwell, WarsawDiana Williams, Fort WayneTwin Sister; Thelma Nelson, Savannah, GeorgiaSister; Dorothy Smith, DuBois, Pennsylvania8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by 7 Brothers and Sisters.Velma had a fondness for cats, playing bingo and Andrea Rieu violin music. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11:00 am, Chaplain Denny Bollenbacher officiating.. Calling hours will be 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral chapel on Thursday, February 17, 2011. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
