Vada M. Whitaker, age 87, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 3:15 AM in Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne. Vada was born August 7, 1933 in Floyd Co. Kentucky to Joe and Maudie (Miller) McKenzie. She was united in marriage to Wayne Whitaker on March 6, 1961 in Michigan who passed away on April 24, 2011. She was a longtime Kosciusko resident. Vada was formerly employed by Gatke of Warsaw & Controls of North Manchester. Along with her husband, she founded Living Hope Ministries of Warsaw. She was a giving person and enjoyed serving in the church. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, her flowers and trees and going South on vacations. Vada is survived by 2 daughters, Michele (Scott) Wickens, Jennifer Craft; 3 grandchildren Haley (Micheal) Donahue, Jonathan Craft, and Tessa Lozano; great grandchildren, Jhett, Raina, Lexi and Elgin; siblings Ethel (Larry) Stone, Erma Brandon, Edith (Terry) West, Jack McKenzie, E.J. (Dee) McKenzie, and Larry (Sandie) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by husband Reverend Wayne Whitaker, two sisters and two brothers. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the church with Pastors Hedgel Perry and Wedstel Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements for the family. The family is requesting that due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required.
