Trece Douglas Blanton

June 17, 1998 — February 8, 2025

Tréce Douglas Blanton, 26, was escorted through the halls of Vahala by the warrior Valkyrie on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Tréce was born in Warsaw, Indiana on June 17, 1998 to Douglas Blanton Jr. and Sadie Sarah (McElroy) Crabb. He had autism and got his certificate of completion from Warsaw High School in 2016. He enjoyed working with his dad at Good-to-Go in the kitchen, helping customers and making people smile.

In 2017, two amazing things happened to him. First, he was befriended by Gunnery Sargeant R. Lee Ermy and was made an Honorary Marine Gunnery Sargeant. Second, he was walking home with his dad during an ice and snow storm and a lady had slid off into a ditch and couldn’t get out. Tréce picked up her Ford sedan from the front bumper and moved it onto the pavement so she could get home. He was protective, incredibly strong and a kind friend to everyone. He lived by the thought to treat everyone with kindness and respect until they give you a reason not to.

Tréce was a great story teller and had a very creative imagination. He was passionate about photography and had a picture on display at the Gateway Education Center called “lunar eclipse.” He enjoyed playing video games on his X-Box and playing table-top Dungeons and Dragons. He was crafty and liked to build things from wood and make stone carvings. He followed Asatru religion and worshipped Odin, Tyr and Thor as his Gods.

He is dearly missed by his father, Douglas Blanton; his sister, Samantha (Thomas) Ashby and uncle, James Edwin McElroy.

Tréce is also survived by his extended family: his motherly figure, Betty Ashby; siblings: Chris (Sommerly) Mihal, Marialyce Hartman, Alison (Tyler) Hill, Skyler Swihart, Zachary (Kyla) Stephens, Mystie-Dawn Coon, Hess, and Zhenya Ogden; aunt and uncles: Miranda Daniels, Mike Eddy, Demetrius Sterling Miller and Jon Ferguson; adopted grandma, Mary Ann Eckman Wood and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lily Fae Blanton; paternal grandparents Douglas and Deborah Blanton; and adopted brother, Chandler Bright.

Per his wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date as well as burial with his grandparents in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
