Theldon R. Burt

December 24, 1935 — July 9, 2023

PIERCETON- Theldon R. “Ted” Burt, 87, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.

Theldon, the only child of Ralph and Inez (Miller) Burt, was born on December 24, 1935 in Warsaw, Indiana and raised on his family farm home in Pierceton. He graduated from Pierceton High School with the class of 1953.

He worked as a florist for a few years before joining the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War, being station in Germany. He was the last surviving Burt in his family.

After his Honorable Discharge, Theldon drove a flatbed semi. He also grew hay and raised angus cows on his family farm that has been passed down through the generations, and was a beekeeper.

In 2014, Theldon was finally able to make his lifelong sweetheart his wife. He would marry June Carruthers and they would share love and laughs until her passing in December of 2022.

Theldon was stubborn, hardworking and enjoyed putting in his two cents on how to do things. When he wanted something, it was “right now” which may have caused a few runs into town, all in the same day. He enjoyed going out to dinner with his nephew and his wife and his circle of friends or enjoying homecooked meals at home. In his younger years he was a fantastic ballroom dancer, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an expert marksman in competition shooting. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 in Warsaw and the Northern Michiana Bee Keepers.

After long day of work, he could be found sitting with his inseparable cat, Christine, on his lap, while drinking a cold Coca-Cola, eating chocolates and watching the Discovery Channel.

He is survived by his nephew, Dexter and Lucy Wise of Rochester and his family, Sue and Curtis O’Neil of Sydney, and good friends and neighbors.
