Tamzen 'Tammy' Light, 88, of Anderson, Indiana, formerly of Carmel, Indiana and Warsaw, Indiana, died on 5/4/2009 at 11:50 PM at St. Johns Medical Center, Anderson, Indiana. She was born on January 11, 1922 in Warsaw, Indiana. Tamzen was the daughter of Arthur and Zermah (Weimer) Phelps. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School, Class of 1939 and Indiana Business College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Class of 1941. Tamzen married Malcolm Wesley 'Mike' Light on October 16, 1942 in Petersburg, Virginia. She was a Former Personnel Director of Otis R. Bowen Center for Human Services, retiring in 1984 after serving 10 years. She was also formerly employed by Lake City Bank, Warsaw, Indiana as an Administrative Assistant in the Loan Department and a former Legal Secretary for the John Widaman Law Office.Tamzen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Warsaw; Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Leesburg, Indiana for more than 60 years; a member of Lakewood Country Club, Naples, Florida; member of Altrusa Club, Warsaw, Indiana; member of Personnel Directors Association of America; Warsaw Business and Professional Women's Association; American Legion Post #49 Auxiliary and Warsaw Elks Club.She was a player/member of the All American Girls Softball League which flourished during World War II due to the lack of Professional Baseball. She was a Pitcher for the Racine Belles and played during the season of 1943.Tamzen is survived by 2 Sons; Charles 'Chip' A. (and wife Paula) Light, Indianapolis, IndianaDr. Craig A. (and wife Deborah A. Rearick) Light, Anderson, Indiana2 Grandchildren; Courtney E. (and husband Rob) Bray, Fishers, IndianaZachary M. (and fiance Angie Kiely) Light, Indianapolis, Indiana (Both are children of Craig and Debbie Light).and many extended family members and countless friends. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:00 am with Reverend David Heim officiating. . Calling hours will be 9:00 - 10:00 am at the funeral chapel on Friday, May 8, 2009. Burial will be at The Light Family Plot at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Mental Health Association of Kosciusko County, 106 Buffalo Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
