Steve Cartwright

Stephen “Steve” Cartwright, 80, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends.

Steve was born July 3, 1942 in Warsaw, Indiana the son of Ernest “Hap” and Thelma Cartwright . He was united in marriage to Dian (Hoodelmier) Cartwright in 1977 who survives.

He was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School in 1960 and continued on to receive a 2 year degree from Indiana Tech. He worked for RR Donnelley’s, and he retired from RJ Reynolds. Dian and Steve enjoyed living in the Carolinas and they still have many friends there. They enjoyed dinner with the Friday night gang in Warsaw.

Steve loved sports especially football. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, IU Hoosiers, and he was a Chicago Cubs fan “only because he had no choice.” He also enjoyed gambling, playing poker, bowling, golf, and fishing. Steve was a member of the Walnut Creek United Methodist Church.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Dian Cartwright of Warsaw; daughters Amy (Tim “Gooner”) Goon, and Shana (David) Humphreys; grandchildren Derek (Samantha) Goon, and Sarah and Tyler Humphreys, six great grandchildren, his great aunt Betty and the Heffley and Englehart families of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in passing by his parents, a son Ed Starner and several aunts and uncles.

A visitation with family and friends will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Tuesday February 14, 2023 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Ct. Warsaw.

Funeral services in celebration of Steve’s life will begin at 3:00 pm in the funeral chapel with Pastor “Cowboy” Carl Adams officiating. Interment is Private.
