Stephen F. “Sonny” Henwood, 60, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in his home.
Steve was born in Goshen, Indiana on December 25, 1964, to Leroy “Buck” and Judy Ann (Ray) Henwood. He graduated from Wawasee High School in Syracuse.
Being a hard worker, he made friends everywhere he went. Steve worked for Da-Lite Screen in Warsaw and was very well-liked by his co-workers and higher management. He was honest and kind and would sacrifice his own needs for others.
Steve always made sure his family came first and foremost. He was a loving Grampa to his grandchildren and his grandson, Troy, was his life. He was a father of 6 girls and loved them all dearly. His family would joke that he was a ladies' man and could always turn on the charm to win a heart. In his downtime, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with cars.
He is survived by his children: Drue “Shelly” Babcock of Granger, Stephanie (Shane) Stuck of South Bend, Ashley Henwood of Warsaw, Angel Henwood of Elkhart, Kimberly Henwood of Warsaw and Chuck (Amber) Stanley of Elkhart; 18 grandchildren; sisters, Karri Henwood and Bobbi Worboys, both of Syracuse; and his girlfriend, Cindy Fredricks of Warsaw.
Steve was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Buck and Judy; his daughter, Nichole Henwood; his sister, Kathy Henwood; and grandchildren, Abigail, Dean and William.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11-12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, Warsaw. We will then process to the Leesburg Cemetery for a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels to help with expenses, and any extra donations will be put into a 529 plan for his grandson Troy.
