Shirley Lou Kreger, 84 of Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 2:40 am Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Masons Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. On May 14, 1930, she was born in Pierceton to Lewis and Anna (Rhodes) Jones. Shirley was united in marriage to Lionel J. Kreger on October 23, 1948 in Churubusco, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1995. A lifetime resident of Pierceton, Shirley was a graduate of Pierceton High School, class of 1948. She retired from Pierceton School and Whitko School Corporation with thirty years of service as school cafeteria manager. Shirley was a member and elder of Pierceton Presbyterian Church and also a choir member for many years. She also was chairperson for funeral dinners for the church. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center, Pierceton, American Legion Auxiliary and Kosciusko County Historical Society. She enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking, praising and blessing others and serving at the church. In the last three years, she enjoyed the many activities and crafts at the Mason's Healthcare Center. Her family was her pride and joy of which she is survived by her two sons, L. Leslie (and spouse Elaine) Kreger, Warsaw and Lewis W. (and spouse Vida) Kreger, Grabill; five grandchildren, Melissa (and spouse Chris) Long, Warsaw, Heather (and spouse Mike) Mielcarz, Robbinsville, New Jersey, Courtney (and spouse Karena) Kreger, Jacksonville, Florida, Adam (and spouse Sara) Kreger, Swartz Creek, Michigan and Ryan Kreger, Grabill; six great grandchildren, Collin Parker, West Point, New York, Lincoln and Landon Kreger, Swartz Creek, Michigan, Whitney Long, Fort Wayne, Trevor Long, Bakersfield, California and Preston Long, Jacksonville, Florida and one sister, Donna Hahn, Warsaw. Shirley was also preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, June 7, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Washington Union Cemetery, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 8:00 pm Friday, June 6, 2014 at the funeral chapel.
