Shirley Frantz

Shirley Frantz, 91, of Pierceton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday April 28, 2026, with family by her side.

Born on December 19, 1934, in Warsaw, she was the daughter of Leroy H. and Rosella I. (Meredith) Shumaker.

She would marry Howard R. “Grouch” Frantz. They shared the joy of loving and guiding their blended family until his passing in 2015.

Shirley worked for Zales Drug store, R.R. Donnelley, and for Walmart where she ran the snack bar for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed getting together with friends and family playing bingo and cards, her favorite of which was euchre. She enjoyed the beauty of growing colorful flowers and the art of gardening.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Kevin Frantz, Arnie R. Frantz, Steve Shumaker, daughter: Cheryl Biltz, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Howard R “Grouch” Frantz (2015), her parents, daughter, Rhonda Frantz, daughter-in-law Barbara Frantz, son-in-law, Bruce Biltz, and her beloved canine “Scooter” (2025).
