Sharon Kay Erwin, 71, of Warsaw, Indiana, formerly of Wellsville, passed away at 3:54 a.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mrs. Erwin was born October 12, 1945, in Vandalia, Missouri, a daughter of Fred Grant and Lillie Arvilla (Spellman) Nye. On February 11, 1963, in Wellsville, Missouri, she married Wayne Ellsworth “Sport” Erwin. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2006. Sharon had lived in Wellsville from 1973 -1979. She then moved to Hatton from 1979-1989 before moving back to Wellsville in 1989. In 2009, Sharon moved to Indiana to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She had previously worked at Beacon Shoe Factory in Jonesburg as well as Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Fulton. Sharon had also ran a family owned café in Auxvasse, Missouri in the 1980’s. Sharon was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsville. She enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and doing word search puzzles. Sharon loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sharon is survived by her three children, Frederick Joseph “Fred” Erwin, Laura Leah Estep and Faron Ellsworth Erwin, all of Warsaw, Indiana; grandchildren, Lilly Crabill, of San Antonio, Texas, Kayloni, Autum, Madison “Madi Lynn” and Delmar “D.J.” III Estep, of Warsaw, Indiana and Jonathon Precht, of Mexico; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee Purvis, of Martinsburg, Virgil “Boogie” Erwin, of Auxvasse, Glen and Carolyn Erwin, of Mexico, Carol Lou “Babe” and Norb Wieschaus, of Columbia, Frances Jane Orrill, of Mount Pleasant, Texas and Peggy Erwin, of Martinsburg; in addition to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Ellsworth “Sport” Erwin; daughter, Leslie Lynn Precht; four brothers, Vernon Clifford Nye, Paul Nye, Clyde Nye and Lyndell Grant Nye and five sisters, Pauline Nye, Florence Edna Nye, Mary Arvilla Jackson, Katherine Irene Mann and Thelma Louise Purvis. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7th at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Chris Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
