Samuel Kris Hitt

Samuel Kris Hitt, age 58, of Winona Lake, IN passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 4:27 pm in Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne, Indiana. On June 10, 1953, Kris was born to Sharon (Parks) Hitt in Orange County, California. He lived in California until 1994 before moving to Lisbon, Ohio where he lived for 11 years. He then moved to Warsaw where he has lived for the last 5 years. Kris served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1972 - 1976, serving as a aircraft ordinance tech. He was involved in operations in Cambodia and Vietnam. He received an associates degree in computer technology from Washington Community State College. He worked for various ski resorts in Colorado. Kris was a member of VFW, Salem, Ohio and he enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors, mountains and the ocean. He is survived by his companion, Marta McDade, Winona Lake; 1 daughter, Felicia Hitt, Elk City, Oklahoma; 3 step-children; Grace McDade and Jean McDade both of Winona Lake and Jeffrey Hamman Jr. Warsaw; granddaughter, Evely Veloz, Elk City, Oklahoma; step-granddaughter, Lacey McDade, Winona Lake; a special aunt, Delores Bates, Salem, Ohio; 4 sisters, Karen Hitt, California; Debbie Burkholder, Wisconsin,; Shelley English, California and Lisa of Wyoming. Kris was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, 2 grandchildren, William and Shalicia Veloz and a brother, Bobby Hitt. There are no services or visitation planned. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to Samuel Kris Hitt Memorial Fund, C/o Marta McDade.
