Sam Dorrough

Sam Dorrough, 74, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Resurrection Medical

Center in Chicago, IL.

Sam was born on January 21, 1949, in Slaughter, MS., the son of Harvey Lee Dorrough and Gertrude

Tolliver Dorrough. At a young age, Sam was baptized and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist

Church, under Pastor Arthur Johnson. He was united in marriage to Irma Shaffer on April 5, 1975, at

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, who proceeded him in passing on October 18,

2011.

Sam was a graduate of Washington High School in Indianapolis, IN and continued on to receive a

Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ball State University. Sam also served in the United States Air Force and Air

National Guard.

Sam worked as a Human Resource Supervisor for R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company in Warsaw, IN for

several years. Sam enjoyed fishing, watching sports and movies, playing cards, reading novels, and

socializing with friends and family. He was also involved in different organizations within the Warsaw

community, such as American Legion, Elks Club, Moose Lodge, and Warsaw Wesleyan Church.

Sam will be lovingly remembered by his son Kevin (Kristine) Dorrough, his two grandchildren, and many

family members and friends. Sam was proceeded in death by his wife, parents and siblings: Irma

Dorrough, Virginia Sue Hall, Ethel Lee Dorrough, Jossie Lindsey, Earl Lindsey, Roosevelt Miller Sr., and Roy

Lee Dorrough. He is survived by his sisters: Willa Dorrough-Robinson, Elizabeth Parkman, and Geneva

Evans.

A visitation with family and friends will be from 11 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday June 9th at McHatton-

Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Ct. Warsaw. Funeral services in celebration of Sam’s life will

begin at 12:30 PM after the visitation in the funeral chapel with Pastor Roosevelt Miller Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
