Roy 'Eddie' Edward McCorkle, 67, of Warsaw, Indiana, died on 10/28/2010 at 12:59 PM at his residence. He was born on July 30, 1943 in Kosciusko County, Indiana. He joined the US Navy after high school serving from 1960-1964. After being a bartender for many years, he spent the majority of his life working for the Disabled American Veterans where he held multiple titles, including Commander. His work earned him a Sagamore of the Wabash award and was made a Kentucky Colonel by two separate Governors. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 253 and the 40 8 Local # 833. He was also a member of Masonic Orders; Eastern Star, Blue Lodge #418; York Rite Bodies,Franklin, Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne and a Mizpah Shrine, Fort Wayne where he was in the Legion of Honor. He was also a naturalist who loved watching birds, enjoyed astronomy and was a member in good standing with several environmental groups. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Robert) Jordan of Muncie; two sons, Kevin (Brenda) McCorkle of Fort Wayne and Patrick McCorkle of Churubusco; and a grandson, Blade McCorkle. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eds name may be sent to the World Wildlife Federation or the Disabled American Vets. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw on Saturday November 6, 2010 at 3:00 pm. Calling hours will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel on Saturday November 6, 2010. Burial will be private. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
