Robert E. Smith, Sr.

Robert E. Smith, Sr., 75, of 722 North Cook Street Warsaw, Indiana, died on 10/27/2009 at 9:16 AM at Indiana University Medical Center Indianapolis, In. He was born on May 2, 1934 in Kokomo, Indiana. Robert was born to Virgil and Dorotha (Bentley) Smith. He was lifetime resident of Warsaw, Indiana. On April 25, 1953 he was united in marriage to Janice L. Hyde in Warsaw, Indiana. Janice preceded him in death on December 15, 2008. Robert was a Truck Driver for a number of years and was then employed by Zimmer, Incorporated of Warsaw, Indiana as a Security Officer. He also served as caretaker for Camp Singing Hills, owned by the Girl Scouts, of Middlebury, Indiana. Robert also proudly served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years. He is survived by his loving family including three sons, William (spouse Patty) Smith of Warsaw, Indiana, Timothy Smith of Warsaw, Indiana and Michael Smith of Wisconsin; one daughter Tina Smith of Warsaw, Indiana and a daughter-in-law Sandra Smith of Chapman Lake, Warsaw, Indiana. In addition he is survived by six sisters including; Donna Woodling of Claypool, Indiana; Eileen Warren of Granger; Indiana, Beverly Tackett, South Whitley, Indiana; Ruth Timmreck, Warsaw, Indiana; Maxine Hepburn, Warsaw, Indiana and June Senff,Warsaw,Indiana and five brothers; Richard Smith, Rochester, Indiana; Bill Smith, Texas; Dean Smith, Ohio; Buddy Smith, Tennessee and Keith Smith, Warsaw, Indiana. 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.He is also preceded in death by a son, Robert Smith Jr., 1 brother and 2 grandchildren. Pastors Charles Easterday and William Whitaker will officate the service for Robert. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 12:00 pm. Calling hours will be 10:00 am- 12:00 pm at the funeral chapel on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Burial will be private. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
