Robert “Bob” Myers, 82, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12:34 p.m. in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born November 8, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, Bob was the son of Harold and Cora (Redinger) Myers. He was united in marriage to Virginia Burke on May 1, 1960, in Warsaw, Indiana. Bob proudly served his country from 1956-1959 as an U.S. Navy Corpsman. He has been a resident of Kosciusko County for 61 years and worked as an engineer for Nipsco from 1976-2001 where he retired. During his lifetime, Bob was involved in many activities including the area Boy Scouts. He was a scout leader for Troop 715 in Winona Lake from 1967-1977. He also attended Philmont Scout Ranch in 1971 for training with the family, returning in 1976 for the troop Adventure. He was a Winona Lake volunteer fireman for 12 years, a captain usher at Notre Dame until 2019, a member of the Lions Club since 1965, serving as a current club secretary and received a presidential award in 2021. He has also been recognized by the Governor of the state of Indiana for his community involvement. Bob served on the board of directors 31 years for the Lions Eye Bank, 2 years as assistant treasurer and 11 years as secretary. He is a lifetime member of American Legion Post #49, Warsaw and he attended Country Bible Church for several years. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Myers of Warsaw; son, John Myers of Warsaw, daughter, Michelle Somers of North Webster; sister Judy Middleton of Warsaw; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his brother Larry. A visitation is planned from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service in celebration of his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in the funeral chapel. Pastor Myron Drent will be officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #49 & VFW Post #1126. Masks are optional, and social distancing is encouraged.
