Ricky Poe

January 31, 1954 — September 23, 2024

Ricky Poe, 70, of Warsaw, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, with his sons by his bedside.

Rick was born on January 31, 1954 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Henderson and Garnett (Morrison) Poe.

On February 23, 1973 in Warsaw, Rick married Joyce A. “Jo” Miller. The couple enjoyed being outdoors and camping. They were the picture of true love. When Jo passed in 2021, he missed her so deeply and while he loved his family, he longed to be with her. Rick took his last breath on the 23rd of September, the same number date as their wedding date.

Rick was an autobody technician that served clients at his home and through various local shops. He was also known as “Karaoke Rick”, providing a fun time for many with Rick’s Karaoke at various locations. Jo used to get the biggest kick out of all the ladies that were admirable of her husband. Rick was a likeable person, a true entertainer, loved to talk and a great story-teller, often laughing at many of his own jokes before he could finish them.

He was an avid motorcyclist, riding recently with members of the local American Legion. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #49. Rick was a passionate music lover, his favorite artist was Merle Haggard, and played the guitar. He was very proud of his Martin Guitar.

Rick was a humble family man. He was the best husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. But don’t take his soft side for granted because he was fiercely independent as well. You could not hold him back for doing anything that he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.

He is survived by his sons: Jason (Amy) Poe and Jesse (Amanda) Poe, both of Warsaw; grandchildren: Shelby, Jackson and Natalie Poe; great-grandson John Wesley; and his brother, Bill Poe, and sister, Connie Pamer.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife Jo in 2021, parents and brothers, Carl Wade and Frank Poe.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10-12 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Larry Burkhart officiating.

He will be laid to rest next to the love of his life in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 N. Main Street, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
