Richard “Dick” Weirick, 90, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Dick was born October 18, 1932 in Warsaw, Indiana the son of Charlie Victor and Latha (Mason) Weirick. He was united in marriage to Lucille “Lucy” (Dirck) Weirick on May 25, 1957 in Columbia City, Indiana.
He graduated with the class on 1951 from Warsaw High School. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. In 2018 he was a participant of the Honor Flight #29.
Dick’s first job was delivering newspapers, buying his bike with his pay. He was a CNC machinist for Zimmer retiring in 1988. He was also employed at White Metal, Union Tools, Birch Vending Company and the Pill Box. He loved “Ham”, enjoyed gardening, took great pride in his yard work, and he continually stayed busy. He especially cherished spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49.
Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years Lucy Weirick of Warsaw; daughter Jackie Whitaker of Warsaw; son Terry (Deb) Weirick of Warsaw; grandson Charlie Weirick of Mentone; brother Jim Weirick of Warsaw; sisters Carolyn Blake of Pierceton and Sandy (Rich) Hollingworth of Barbee Lake. He was preceded in passing by his parents, sisters Betty Nesbitt and Bernie Leek; a daughter-in-law Angie Weirick and his dog “Buster.”
A visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon on Friday March 24, 2023 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Ct. Warsaw.
Funeral services in celebration of Dick’s life will begin at 12:00 Noon in the funeral chapel with Pastor Glenn Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors.
