Richard Douglas Kerr

Richard “Rick” D. Kerr, 81, passed away Monday September 1, 2026 in Pierceton, Indiana at his residence.

Rick was born on May 9, 1945 in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Richard “Dick” N. and Rosemary (Heiman) Kerr.

He married Winifred “Gail” (Barber) Kerr on August 17, 1996 in Pierceton. The couple would make the Pierceton area their home and share 20 years of love, laughter, and memories before her passing in 2015.

Rick was employed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons prior to graduating from Pierceton High School and then returned there after he served in the U.S. Army. He proudly served our country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965-1967. After his dedicated service, Rick continued to work as a Press Operator for Donnelley’s until his retirement.

He enjoyed spending time in his garden and being outdoors. He greatly cherished the time he spent with his friends and loved westerns and watching old movies.

Rick is survived by his children: Shala (Scott) Bradley, South Whitley; Shane (Jessica) Kerr, Pierceton; stepchildren: Misty (Andy) Snyder, Warsaw; and Justin (Crystal) Kinsey, Pierceton; siblings: Barb Kintzel, Pierceton and Kevin (Laurie) Kerr, Larwill. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren: Treyson, Trenden, and Tanavah Bradley, Laicey and Lucas Snyder, Jozlyn and Charly Kinsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Winifred “Gail” Kerr, and brother Stephen M. Kerr.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday September 21, 2026 from 10:00-12:00 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel,105 First St., Pierceton, IN 46562. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon, with Pastor Lew Collier officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
