Richard "Dick" Moore

Richard “Dick” Moore, born July 5, 1932, in Warsaw, passed away peacefully with the devoted care of three dear friends who lovingly took shifts to be by his side in his final days.

He was born in Warsaw, Indiana on July 5, 1932, to the late Gerald and Katherine May “Katie” (Henderson) Moore.

Prior to entering the military, Dick spent his time working for the family business at Moore Plumbing & Heating.

Dick proudly served his country as a sergeant in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He attended the Accounting Technician Supervisors and Disbursing School in the military and became an accountant during his 4 years of service. He continued to work for the family business once he returned home and drove a Charter bus for Indiana Motor Bus & Excursions.

Dick had a presence that was simply unforgettable. His sparkling blue eyes, wide smile, and quick humor made him instantly magnetic. Within ten seconds of meeting someone, he could have them laughing — it was his gift, and he shared it generously. His personality was infectious, his charm effortless, and his ability to brighten a room unmatched.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and the many people whose lives were lifted by his laughter, kindness, and unmistakable spirit.

Dick was the proud father of two sons, Gary (Schneice) Moore and Bruce Moore, and the grandfather of six grandchildren; Mallorie, Cameron, Cynthia (Matteo), Alex, Jacob and Jered Moore, and one great‑grandchild, Francisco Alexander, all of whom brought him joy throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Gerald “Bob” Robert Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife Elaine Marilyn Moore in 2022.

A graveside service will take place on October 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel, 421 N. Maple Ave, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 with Military Honors to follow.
