Richard “Dick” Johnson

Richard “Dick” Johnson, age 73, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at 4:00 AM in Peabody Retirement Community Health Center, North Manchester, Indiana. Richard was born April 6, 1947 in  Rochester, Indiana to Emerson and Juanita (Cutshaw) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Sharon (Whittenberger) Johnson on December 6, 1969 in Claypool, Indiana who passed away December 7, 2015. Dick grew up in Athens and spent most of his lifetime in Akron until moving to Warsaw. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Depuy Synthes, Warsaw.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and a member of the Pathway Church, Warsaw.  Dick enjoyed golfing, fishing on Lake Michigan and he dearly loved his family. Richard is survived by three children, LaDonna (Jon) Mitchell, Rochester, Sondra (Mike) Slone, Warsaw and Brian (Paige) Johnson, Akron and eight grandchildren, Lindsay, Joshua, Danielle, Kennedy, Kaylee, Austin, Kelton and Kyler. In addition, he is survived by 1 great-grandchild, Charlotte; sister, Sue Brubaker of Rochester; niece, Kim Holloway, Rochester; nephew, Ben Brubaker, Cincinnati, OH; and his loving dog Cassie. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his wife, Sharon (Whittenberger) Johnson. **Please note, due to the State mandate, masks are required.  Individuals are asked to provide their own mask. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 27, 2020 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A graveside service will follow immediately at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Pastor Jarod Osborne officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by American Legion Post # 49. Memorial donations may be made to Fort Wayne VA Medical Center 2121 Lake Avenue Fort Wayne, IN 46805-5100
