Richard D. Dolby

Richard D. Dolby, 80, of Warsaw, Indiana, died on 3/25/2009 at 1:15 PM at His Residence. He was born on March 1, 1921 in Huntington, Indiana. Richard went home to be with his Lord and Savior March 25, 2009. He was born to Clarence and Tessie (Landrum) Dolby. Richard graduated from Roanoke High School in 1946. He farmed and worked in several factories until called by the Lord to full time ministry in 1961. He attended Huntington College for two years and then Manchester College, graduating in 1965. Richard recieved his Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH. in 1968 and was ordained in the North Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1968. Churches served were: Collins, St. John's and Trinity, Columbia City, IN. area from 1961 to 1965; United Church of Christ of Laura, OH. from 1965 to 1968; Union Chapel United Methodist of Decatur, IN. from 1968-1970; Elkhart Grace United Methodist, Elkhart, IN. from 1970 to 1978 and Goshen St. Mark's United Methodist from 1978 to 1991. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Hite) Dolby; daughters, Carol (Glenn) Nusz of Silver Lake, IN., Cheryl (Robert) Roth of Warsaw, IN., son, Steve (Sue) Dolby of Goshen, IN., daughter-in-law, Laura Dolby of Bloomington, IN., 12 grandchildren, Stephanie (Kerry) Pinder, Melissa (Brian) Katschke, Nathan Gates, Nolan Gates, Elizabeth Dolby, Adrianne (Justin) Farris, Isaac Dolby, Josalyn (Adam) Fedorow, Marc Roth, Ryan Roth, Michelle (Greg) Plunkett, and Janell (Robert) Rohena; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Maxine Smith of Huntington, IN. and Evelyn (Rolland) Wehr of Marion, IN.. A sister-in-law, Joann Dolby of Roanoke, IN.. Richard was preceded in death by a son, Galen Dolby, on October 3, 2007 and a brother Robert Dolby. Pastor Andy Martin of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, IN. and Kokomo District Superintendent Dr. Frank Beard will officiate the services. Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church 832 E. Center St. Warsaw, IN. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:00 AM with calling one hour prior. Calling hours will be 4-8 pm at the Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 30, 2009. Burial will be at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery 880 E. CR 1100 N. Roanoke, IN..
