Reverend Paul Dean Tinkel

Reverend Paul Dean Tinkel, 83 of Warsaw, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:50 am on Monday, November 7, 2016, in his residence, surrounded by his family and loved ones. On February 26, 1933, he was born in Wabash, Indiana to Arthur Henry and Lylia Mae (Starbuck) Tinkel. He was united in marriage to Judy Elizabeth Foy on February 27, 1953 in Beckley, West Virginia who survives. Paul was a graduate of Akron High School, Class of 1951 and received his associate degree from Great Commission Bible School, Anderson, Indiana. He then received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ashland College University and Seminary, Ashland, Ohio. He held many pastorates including, Gatewood Brethren Church, Fayetteville, West Virginia, Brush Valley Brethren Church, Adrian, Pennsylvania, Roanoke First Brethren Church, Roanoke, Warsaw First Brethren Church, Warsaw, New Paris First Brethren Church, New Paris, Milford First Brethren Church, Milford, West Eel River Church of the Brethren and he started the Meadow Crest Brethren Church, Fort Wayne. These churches include six building programs and he served on several District and Denominational Boards and Committees. He was a member of The Oak Hill First Brethren Church and The West Eel River Church of the Brethren. Paul served in the Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary for twenty eight years with the rank of LT. Colonel and Chaplain; Indiana State Wing Chaplain for eight years of which he was also a CAP/USAF Pilot for many years. He was a member of National Brethren Ministerial Association, Ashland, Ohio and Ordained Pastor in the Brethren Church for forty two years, retiring in 1995. Paul was also a member of Kiwanis Club International of which he was a former President and a member of the local Warsaw club; former Civil Defense Area Safety Director and Volunteer Fireman, in Oak Hill, West Virginia and former Co-President of the Parent-Teachers Association. Paul is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Judy Elizabeth Tinkel, Warsaw, three daughters, Paula Elizabeth (and spouse Dan) Gray, Peru, Cheryl Lynn Kessler, Fort Wayne and Deanna Kay Ladd (and spouse John) Richards, Warsaw; seven grandchildren, Nathan and wife Stephanie, Brandon and wife Marianne, Colin and wife Megan Gray, Eric Kessler, Julie and husband Austin Smith, Jason and wife Jaime Ladd and Jennifer Ladd and her fiancé Chad Dahms ; thirteen great grandchildren and one brother, James Lee (and spouse Darlene) Tinkel, Bastrop, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arthur Junior Tinkel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 10, 2016 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Mark Ray officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund, C/o K21 Health Foundation, P.O.
