Reverend John C. Louthain

Reverend John C. Louthain, 88 of Warsaw, passed away at 4:55 am Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Warsaw Meadows Care Center. He was born on March 25, 1925, near Walton in Cass County, Indiana to Ellery Arthur and Mary Evaleen (Kingery) Louthain. He graduated from Ervin High School, Howard County in 1943, and then was inducted into the U.S. Army in January of 1945 at the age of 19. He served in Okinawa and Japan and was discharged in November of 1946. He married Blanche Burwell on December 20, 1957 in Upland, Indiana, who survives. He graduated from Taylor University in 1958 and Asbury Theological Seminary in 1962, and then served as Pastor for the United Methodist Church in Northern Indiana, retiring in 1989. Since retirement, he has lived in Ohio, Florida, Kentucky and Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Blanche (Burwell) Louthain, Warsaw; his daughter, Hilda (and spouse David) Fyock, Nampa, Idaho; two sons, Charles (and spouse Karen) Louthain, Warsaw and Marvin Louthain, Sunbury, Ohio; three grandsons, Micah and Sean Fyock, Nampa, Idaho and Zachary Beck, Warsaw; five sisters, Charlotte Hunter, Kokomo, Joanne Carter, Thorntown, Anna Carter, Kokomo, Jeanne (and spouse Bill) Allen, Kokomo, Marilyn (and spouse Joe) Skaggs, Shipshewana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nettie Louthain and his brother Wade Louthain. A funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood with Pastor Dale Linhart officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm On Monday, October 21, 2013 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions are to be made to The Salvation Army, 501 Arthur Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580; World Missionary Press, P.O. Box 120, New Paris, Indiana 46553 or to Otterbein United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 98, Atwood, Indiana 46502.
