Rebecca Phend

Rebecca Phend, age 63, of South Whitley, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:55 a.m. in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Indiana. Rebecca was born November 10, 1957 in   Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert and Marge (Johnson) Phend. She grew up in South Whitley and graduated from Whitko High School in 1976 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Rebecca continued her education at St. Francis, where she graduated in 1987 with a major in business administration and a minor in computer science. Following that, she joined the U.S. Navy where she proudly served from 1988 until 1992 as an electronics technician/petty officer second class. She returned to Kosciusko County and became the owner of Beccassage, providing massage therapy to people and animals. Rebecca specialized in cancer massage and Rieki.  She was part of the adjunct faculty for Ivy Tech from 1997-2012, where she taught massage and medical assisting courses. She worked for years with 4-H horse and pony clubs. Rebecca was honored as Veteran of the Month at the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting in July 2020. Rebecca is survived by mother, Marge Phend, South Whitley; and sister, Rose Phend, South Whitley.  She was preceded in death by father, Robert Phend, and brother Michael Phend. No services will be conducted at this time. Interment will be at Marion National Cemetery, Marion Indiana.  McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements for the family.
