Claypool

Randy L. Dickey, 74, passed away peacefully at home with his family with him on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Born on April 9, 1951, in Warsaw, Indiana Randy was the son of Otis and Clarice (Aubin) Dickey. He graduated from Mentone High School with the class of 1969. Right after high school, Randy began working for R.R. Donnelley in Warsaw in shipping and receiving. He was a dedicated employee for 44 years.

In Claypool, Randy took as his wife, Barbara, on July 4, 1976. The couple had a love for horses and miniature horses and raised them on their land. Trail riding was a fun getaway that they enjoyed doing together.

He played a very important role in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Barb and he enjoyed helping the kids all through their 4-H years and with tending to their horses. Randy coached girls’ basketball at Tippecanoe Valley High School and was an avid drag racing fan, even racing a couple times. He enjoyed rides on his motorcycle and bowling on a league in Warsaw.

Randy is dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Barb, and their children: Nikki (Tony Goodwin) Whitehurst of Claypool, Tim (Deb) Carpenter of Claypool and Angie Scherschel of Elkhart; grandchildren: Kasey, Brady, Rae Anne, Ethan, David, Alex and Harper; brothers: Roger Frantz of Winona Lake, Clarence Dickey of Warsaw and Rex Dickey of Warsaw as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Corey Scherschel and brother Howard Frantz.
