Randall A. Chaplin, 75, of Warsaw, died Monday September 12, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family.
Randy was born in Argos on November 27, 1946, the son of (the late) John Henry Chaplin and Garnet Avenelle (Saygers) Chaplin. He graduated from Atwood High School with the Class of ’64 and went on to serve his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Randy retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. as a Control Room Operator and was also a proud member of the United Steelworkers Local 12775. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and the VFW James W. Sittler Post 1126.
Randy enjoyed camping, spending the summers in Welston MI; he was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame football and NASCAR racing and he also enjoyed hunting & fishing, tending to his yard and trying his luck with an occasional trip to the casinos. He truly cherished the time he spent with his family and he loved watching his grandchildren grow into the wonderful adults they have become.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kathy Chaplin; his daughter, Beth Ann Jungels and son, Dean Allen Chaplin, all of Warsaw; step-son, Christopher Andrew Gallion of Orlando FL; grandchildren, Peyton Christopher Blayze Balazs & Tanner Weston Balazs, both of Warsaw, Brianna Alaina Chaplin of Burket, and his brother, Thomas Chaplin of Mishawaka.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jonel Houghton.
Graveside services will be held in the Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery, 421 N. Maple Ave. at 11:00am on Saturday September 24, 2022 with military honors. Terry Matzat will officiate the service. The family of Randy welcomes all who would like to attend.
