R. Gordon Tuttle

R. Gordon Tuttle, 96 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2012 in his residence. On December 6, 1915, he was born in Kosciusko County to James O. and Nellie (Devenney) Tuttle. He married Mary Naomi Studebaker on June 3, 1945 in South Whitley, Indiana. Gordon was a lifetime resident of Warsaw , where he was a self employed farmer, retiring in the early 1990's. He attended high school in Pierceton and then Larwill where he graduated. Gordon served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, European Theatre from 1943 - 1945. He was a memberr of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Warsaw, Gideons International and Farm Bureau. He also enjoyed gardening. Gordon is survived by his wife, Mary Naomi Tuttle, Warsaw; two daughters, Jayne St. Marie, Palm Beach, Florida and Carol Whitesell, Warsaw; one son, James (and spouse Virginia) Tuttle, Rochester Hills, Michigan; two sisters, Helen Smith, North Webster and Marilynne Curtis- Stauffer, Warsaw; nine grandchildren, Richard and Alec Prentice, Michael, Jenny, Jackie, Kristie and Adam Whitesell, Lori Price and Paula Olson and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Morris and two sisters, Betty and Marjorie. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 5, 2012 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Holly White officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the funeral chapel. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 446, Pierceton, Indiana 46562, Kosciusko Homecare and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196 or to The Gideon's International, P.O. Box 766, Winona Lake, Indiana 46590-0766.
