Phillip E. “Crazy Horse” Van Curen, age 71, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 8:40 AM in his residence. He was born January 17, 1947 in Kosciusko County to Wilbur H. and Bernice Ilene (Baker) Van Curen. Phil graduated from Warsaw High School in 1965. He faithfully served his Country and the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 as Specialist 4 (T), Armor Crewman during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Carol Beth Pogue in Warsaw on April 3, 1976. “Horse” was employed by Zimmer, Inc from 1970 to 1996 and retired with 27 years of service. He then became the C.E.O. of F.C. Horse, Inc. from 1996 to 2011 specializing in retail sales and retired after 14 years. With many interests, he loved to fly fish, traveling to the Western States, his 1980 FLH Harley Davidson and was especially known for keeping his wife Carol happy. His memberships include Warsaw Family Worship Center and Pierceton American Legion Post # 258. He is survived by his wife Carol Beth of Warsaw, daughter Beth (Van Curen) Stockdale of Leesburg, grandson William James (spouse Kayla Nicole Stout) Stockdale of Columbia City, sisters Wilburta J. Banghart of Warsaw and Joyce I. McBroom of Milford. In addition, the apple of his eye, a great-grandson Benjamin Stockdale survives. He was preceded by brothers Russell Blaine and John Michael Van Curen and sister Connie Sue Banghart. Visitation hours are scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Funeral Chapel with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Military honors will be rendered by Pierceton American Legion Post #258.
