Peter T. Gatke, 65, of 1817 North County Road 400 East Warsaw, Indiana, died on 11/3/2009 at 1:32 PM at His residence. He was born on February 12, 1942 in Warsaw, Indiana. Pete was born to Donald E. and Lucile (Andrus) Gatke.Pete was lifetime resident of Warsaw, Indiana. Pete served with the Warsaw Fire Department from April 1, 1976 to June 30, 1998. His ratings include First Class Firefighter, Second Class Firefighter, Master Firefighter, Certified Fire Inspector and Certified Fire Investigator. He served as Fire Inspector for 10 years prior to retirement. Pete was a former Board Member for Cardinal Center, Inc. Warsaw, Indiana, a member of the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana, a member of the Kosciusko County Fireman's Association and a former volunteer firefighter for the Winona Lake Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Linda Gatke of Warsaw, Indiana; daughters Misty (spouse Mike) Wagley of Warsaw, Indiana and Tammy (spouse Reiner) Blessing of Tega Cay, South Carolina; a step-daughter Brigette (spouse Darren) Young of Warsaw, Indiana and a step-son Eddy Slone of Tampa, Florida. In addition, Pete is survived by his brothers including Dennis M. (spouse Janice) Gatke of Angola, Indiana; Edward A. (spouse Betty) Gatke of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Tom (spouse Connie) Gatke of Mount Vernon, Indiana and Curt Gatke of Warsaw, Indiana. Pete has seven grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and one brother Greg “Skip” Gatke. Funeral service will be privately held and not open to the public. Burial will be at a private time selected by the family. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
