Paul Dean Snyder (PD), 82 a longtime Claypool, IN resident passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in Kosciusko Community Hospital after his second brave battle with cancer.He was born in Luther, IN to Harry A. Snyder and Emma A. (Perry) Snyder on April 12, 1931. On November 21, 1954 he married Betty A. (Perry) Snyder who preceded him in death. On August 27, 1968 he married Kay L. (Adams) Walton who survives.He graduated from Bippus High School in 1949, Bippus, IN and served in the U.S. Army from April 1951 in Augsberger, Germany with an honorable discharge in April 1953. He graduated from the Police Academy in Plainfield, IN and served as a Warsaw City Patrolman for 9 years. He also worked in construction, as a tree trimmer and was a semi truck driver for 60 years.He was a generous and loving husband, brother, uncle, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He lived his life to the fullest, enjoyed telling stories and was quite a character. His family was his pride and joy. He loved God, his country and was always willing to help a friend.He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and the Moose Lodge both in Warsaw, IN. He was a founding member of the Bull Haulers Association.Surviving are four daughters; Paula (and spouse Tony) Calhoun, Warsaw; Sally (and spouse Jeff) Hufford, Chandler, Az.; Tina (and spouse Jay) Harting, Silver Lake; Sandra (Sam) (and spouse David) Engle, Claypool. One son: James Walton and 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Three sisters: Virginia Doenges, South Whitley; Esther Snyder, Winona Lake; and Jo Ann Byers, Warsaw. Three brothers: Edward Snyder, Bippus; Richard Snyder, Muskegon, MI.; and John Snyder, Leesburg along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Richard (Rick) Snyder.A celebration of Life is planned for later this spring with internment at Graceland Cemetery in the family plot at Claypool, IN. McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with the arrangements.Family has asked for memorials to be made out to the Warsaw Police Department Dare Program, 2191 E. Ft. Wayne Street, Warsaw, IN or K-21 Foundation Cancer Care Fund, PO Box 1810, Warsaw, IN 46581-1810.
