Paul E. Bevelhimer, 92, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away into his Heavenly Father’s arms on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 9:45 a.m. in The Estelle Peabody Memorial Home. Born March 14, 1929 in Anderson, Indiana, Paul was the son of Samuel and Neva (Leonard) Bevelhimer. Paul was a 1947 graduate of Anderson High School, where he was a member of the 1946 IHSAA State Champion basketball team. In 1951 Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Butler University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, the Butler Sphinx Club, and a four-year member of the Butler University basketball team. Upon his graduation, Paul began his career in education as an English teacher, guidance counselor and basketball coach at several Indiana schools, including Morristown, Shelbyville, Greenfield, Decatur, and North Miami High Schools. A career change led Paul to the insurance industry where he was a General Agent for the Columbus Life Insurance Company. During his 35 years as an agency owner, Paul earned countless awards and served thousands of families in Indiana and throughout the Midwest. Although Paul left the coaching profession, he never stopped coaching. As a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he rarely missed an opportunity to support those he loved. Whether from the bleachers, a fishing boat, or while walking on the beach, Paul cherished time with his family, and we are all blessed to have received his “Coaching”! Paul is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Eve Bevelhimer of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Hall of Anderson, by granddaughter Aly Tinker, and by Barbara Heiney Bevelhimer, his first wife with whom he had five children.
