Patricia Sue Ellis

July 18, 1949 — July 26, 2021

Patricia Sue (Weiss) Ellis departed this life to her heavenly home on July 26, 2021, with her husband and children at her side. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, on July 18, 1949, to Wallace and Irma (Roekle) Weiss, and raised by a very loving, supportive family in Frankenmuth, Michigan, Pat attended St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and School, and graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1967. Pat attended Ferris State University and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University. She worked at the Department of Social Services, Combined Community Services, and Grace Village Retirement Community. Pat lived in Warsaw for nearly five decades, over the years showing her dedication to helping others by volunteering with numerous local organizations, including Community Bible Study, Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County, Warsaw Housing Authority, Housing Opportunities of Warsaw, Inc., and Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice (hospice companion). Pat is survived by her beloved husband and chosen life partner of 51 years, Carl Ellis, whom she married January 30, 1970. She is also survived by her children Dr. Andrea (Gabrielle) Ellis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Paul (Bess) Ellis of Chicago, siblings Kurt Weiss, Jeannie (Karl) Muehlfeld, John (Marjie) Weiss, and Karl Weiss, brother-in-law Michael (Nancy) Ellis, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pat’s greatest joy was being “Sittee” to her four grandchildren, Griffin Scremin, Oliver Ellis, Elliot Scremin, and Hazel Ellis, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Pat also loved snorkeling with any and all sea creatures, walking the beach in search of seashells, playing euchre with her siblings, family photos, and overflowing Christmas stockings. Pat touched the lives of so many dear friends and extended family members, and her loving heart, generosity, and compassion for others will be sorely missed on this earth. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Pat’s values of everyone doing what they can to help others, please get vaccinated. Memorials may also be made to Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County 1101 Park Ave. Winona Lake, IN 46590 or MOST (Mission Opportunities Short Term) 655 Phoenix Dr.  Ann Arbor, MI 48108. For the safety of everyone, the family is requiring that masks be worn by visitors regardless of vaccination status. A visitation is planned from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A private funeral service in celebration of Pat’s life will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Christen Pettit-Miller officiating. Interment will in Oakwood Cemetery.
