Norma Lou Lackey

Norma Lou (Freeman) Lackey, age 88, of Akron, Indiana, went on to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2020 surrounded by her family. Norma was born on March 31, 1931 in Atwood, Indiana to Mearl and Versa Mae (Yeager) Freeman. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Lackey in Winona Lake on May 27, 1953: who preceded her in death in 1983. She was a graduate of Atwood High School. She worked for Zimmer Inc. for 15 years with a strong work ethic. Norma was a member of Fellowship Community Church, Mentone. She was a faithful wife and mother. She was adored by all that knew her. She was a pillar to lean on for all. She was crafty, a nature lover and known as a fantastic cook. Norma is survived by children: Peggy (Earl) Marsillett of Warsaw, IN, Dewey (Dee) Lackey of Florida, Kathy Cutler of Warsaw, IN, Daniel (Debbie) Lackey of Claypool, IN, Jane Lackey of Akron, IN. In addition, she is survived by 2 stepchildren: Mike Lackey of Warsaw, IN, Charlene Withham of Mentone, IN, 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and her loving dog Domino. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Robert Lackey, 1 stepson; Monty Lackey, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 great-grandson. The family would like to give a special thanks to her devoted caregivers Melinda and Bonnie. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Kyle Schnitz will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, prior to the service at the Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Mentone Cemetery.
