Neils W. Bruns

Neils W. Bruns, Jr., 82 of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at 8:05 a.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Neil was born to Mary and Neil Bruns Sr. January 11, 1936 in Portland, Maine, with older sister, Helen and younger sister, Patty completing the family. He enlisted in the Marines at age 17, serving 4 years. He then “Jumped Ship” and joined the United States Coast Guard, retiring after 30 years of service to his country. Neil married Norma Hopps on August 8, 1966 and became the step-dad to Michael, Debbie, Vicky and Sandy. He was the rock and guiding light to his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and acquiring the beloved alias “Bubba”. Bubba loved regaling to all who knew his humorous quips, words of wisdom, and “war stories”. A lifelong passion that he thoroughly enjoyed was THE HUNT for the NEXT cool car, trading vehicles more times than can be remembered. His family will privately gather to celebrate and honor Neil with gratefulness to God for the blessing of having him in their lives. “Well done, mon” The family is requesting that the memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army 501 E Author St., Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
