Nancy Ellen Booth, 67, of Pierceton, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, March 15, 2013. Born June 28, 1945 in Warsaw, Indiana, she was a daughter of Mary Ellen (Hawkins) Mowrey of Pierceton and the late John Frederick Mowrey. Nancy was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her mother, Mary Ellen Mowrey; her son, Dr. Scott Booth and his wife, Lorrigan, of Dover, Ohio; brothers, David Mowrey and his wife, Betty, of Virginia, Minnesota, Dan Mowrey and his wife, Irene, of Lebanon, Kentucky, Joe Mowrey and his wife, Sally, of Fremont, Indiana, and James Mowrey and his wife, Christy, of Pierceton; a sister, Rose Mowrey of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Robin, Brenda, Tim, Paul, Jon, Charity, Danielle, Sara, and Seth; aunts, Marjorie Mowrey of Columbia City, Indiana and Jeannie Hawkins of Amboy, Indiana; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a number of cousins. A resident of Pierceton for most of her life, Nancy was a graduate of Pierceton High School in the class of 1963 before moving to Los Angeles for several years. Upon returning home, she began her career as a food service supervisor at area nursing homes including the former Prairie View Nursing Home in Warsaw for many years before holding the same position at Millers Merry Manor in Warsaw for over a decade until her retirement in 2011. She was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her kind and gentle disposition with all around her, and her fantastic cooking which was the highlight of every family gathering. Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service and celebration of her life, officiated by Pastor Bob Jarboe, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Pierceton with visitation for an hour prior to the service. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Diabetes Association, in lieu of flowers.
