Pierceton- Mitchell L. Elder, 56, passed away due to complications from a stroke at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
He was born in Warsaw, Indiana on September 28, 1966 to Max Loren and Violet May “Maize” (Steele) Elder. He attended Whitko High School.
Mitch had known Janie Kline Wyman for close to a decade and would make her his fiancé.
He was a self-taught welder and machinist for 40 years, working for Lake Tool and Die in Syracuse. Mitch also taught his boys about welding when they were little.
He was a diehard country music fan, loved fireworks, enjoyed his morning coffee and could be found watching Stargate Atlantis and Smallville with his dog Maggie on his lap. He was a member of the Pierceton Shuffleboard League and enjoyed playing pool. Mitch served as past President and Treasurer for the American Legion Post 258 Sons of the Legion, as well as being a lifetime member.
Mitch loved being with his grandchildren. He enjoyed life, a good bonfire and a cold Miller Lite. He would help anyone in need and never expected anything in return. Mitch had a huge personality and was loved by his town of Pierceton.
He is survived by his fiancé, Janie; his sons, Tyler (Brittni) Elder of Warsaw and Trent Elder of Pierceton; his father, Max Elder of Pierceton; his grandchildren: Loren, Mason, Bryson, Addison and Avery; and brothers: Max (Lisa), Mike and Tony (Nicole) all of Pierceton.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
The Family and Friends of Mitch Elder welcome you to a Celebration of Life dinner on Saturday, May 20, 2023 beginning at 4 p.m. in the upstairs of the American Legion 258, 104 N First St., Pierceton. Meat will be provided if you would like to contribute a side dish please let family know. Also please bring your favorite pictures with Mitch displayed on a poster board to share with everyone!
