Michael Christian Keener, 22 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 4:40 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. On September 11, 1991, he was born in Columbia City, Indiana to Chris and Kristine (Wood) Keener. A lifetime resident of Warsaw, Michael graduated from Warsaw High School, class of 2010. He was kind hearted and loving. He was really creative, enjoying his love of music, photography and nature. He also was an artist, and was very much involved in the Art Club at Warsaw High School and many of its activities. He won various awards in art, including The Golden Key Scholastic Art Award of Northwest Indiana and Lower Southwest Michigan Region. Michael had a good sense of humor, he was known as Captain Keener by his friends. He is survived by his mother, Kristine Keener, Warsaw; his father, Chris Keener, Pierceton; two sisters, Dusty Keener, Claypool and Kimberly Keener, Huntington; six nephews and nieces, Taylor, Tony, Madison, River, Celest and Isabel and his maternal grandmother, Fern Wood, Warsaw. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dick Wood and his paternal grandfather, Francis Keener. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, June 16, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Richard Niles officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Indiana. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 1:00 pm Monday, June 16, 2014 in the funeral chapel.
