*SERVICE UPDATE*

Visitation will be held from 10-12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, Warsaw. A Memorial service will follow at noon with Pastor Glenn Hall officiating.

Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Mary E. Smith, 90, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Millers Merry Manor in Warsaw.

Mary was born on January 25, 1934 in her family home in Claypool, Indiana to Lawrence J. and Helen M. (Keplinger) Adams. She attended Claypool High School.

In Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, Mary was united in holy matrimony to Donnie W. Smith on December 16, 1950. They would welcome two children, David and Sandy.

She worked in the office for Whitley Products for 18 years and as a rural route carrier in Pierceton for 16 years for the USPS

Mary also co-owned two businesses in Pierceton with her husband Donnie, the Post from 1962-1990 ‘s and The Pastime from 1969-1990’s. They also spent many winters in Florida together.

She was a member of the Warsaw Moose. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and raised two great-grandchildren beginning in 2007. She enjoyed cards, puzzles and family gatherings. She loved having garage sales, seeing old friends and family.

Mary is survived by her son, David (Tam) Smith of Pierceton, and daughter, Sandy (Bill) Burnworth of Pierceton; grandchildren, Jason and Jerett; great-grandchildren: Mariah, Madison, Hunter, Austin and Ayla; great-great-grandchildren: Leighton and Maylee; and siblings: Lois Kline, Peggy Kimmerling, Nancy Patrick and Kay Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donnie in 2007; her parents; her brothers, Joe and Pete; and special grandson, Justin “Dean” Burnworth.
