Mary A. Steele, age 90, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Sunday May 7, 2017 at 11:25 PM in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was Born March 27, 1927 in Vevay, IN to Howard and Agnes (Smith) Schmunk. In 1948 she received her B.S. degree in Home Economics Education from Purdue University. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Steele on December 23, 1949 in Greensburg, IN. Robert preceded her November 21, 2002. A Warsaw resident since 1950 she was a former Home Economics teacher for Milford Schools. She was a member Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, a lifetime member of Rozella Ford Golf Course, First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Tri Kappa Sorority, Zerelda Reading Club and was an active member of her community volunteering in numerous charities and civic organizations. While bridge and golf were her passions she, most of all, cherished her family. Survivors include daughters Joyce (Tony) Hawkins of West Lafayette and Carol (John) Clay of Warsaw. In addition, five grandchildren Christopher (Angela) Clay of Northville, MI, Gregory (Michelle) Clay of Chaska, MN, Kimberly (Justin) Kashman of Warsaw, Kari (Luke) Gorski of West Lafayette, and Amy (Patrick) Cannon of Warsaw. Furthermore, great-grandchildren Nolan, Grady, Rory and Wynne Gorski, Kendall Cannon, and Benjamin, Jacob and Annabel Clay survive. Visitation hours are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12 PM Saturday, May 13, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Funeral services are scheduled following at 12:00 PM Saturday in the Church with Pastor Mark Need officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
