Maria C. Nyenhuis, 83, of 1915 E Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw, Indiana , died on 4/26/2009 at 10:49 pm at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Indiana. She was born on August 15, 1925 in Gelderland Province, Netherlands. She was born to Bart and Mary (Mullink) Zents in the Netherlands, where she grew up on a farm in Gelderland Province. On April 22, 1952, she was married to Henry Nyenhuis who preceded her in death on September 20, 1998. In 1957, Maria, her husband and their first three of six children immigrated to the United States, with their first home being in Mishawaka, Indiana. In 1959 the family moved to Warsaw, Indiana. Maria worked as a Homemaker and also worked along with her family on their farm near Atwood, Indiana. In later years, the family ran a grocery store in Atwood.Maria was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church in Warsaw, where she performed volunteer work in the school and church office. She found friendship in Bible Study, Young at Heart, and Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was a Big Ten Basketball Fan. She took pride in the flowers that she grew in her yard. She was an excellent cook and always made sure that her guests felt welcome.Maria is survived by six children, John Nyenhuis (Becky) of West Lafayette, IN, Frances Majcher (Mark) of Rockledge, FL, Ivonne Zimmer (Mark) of Indianapolis, IN, Lucy Brown (Jerry) of Noblesville, IN, Mary Ann Dozer (David) of Corvallis, OR, and Elsie Thoma (Michael) of Lafayette, IN. Maria hes been blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Jan Zents and Theo Zents in the Netherlands, and three sisters, Ans Zents and Ada Wormskamp in the Netherlands, and Wilma Veldman in South Bend, IN. Preceding her in death were brothers Bertus and Jos Zents and sister Riek Nijenhuis. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw on Thursday April 30, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Calling hours will be 5:00 to 7:30 PM Rosary at 7:30 on Wednesday April 29, 2009. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery - Warsaw, IN. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
