Lutie Kocik

Lutie Kocik, 89, passed away peacefully at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Peabody Retirement Home in North Manchester.

Born in Printer, Kentucky on July 26, 1936, Lutie was the oldest of 13 children born to Clark H. and Sara (Estep) Vanover.

Lutie married Robert L. Hoffer in the summer of 1970. He would proceed her in death in April of 1991.

On August 14, 1993 she married Michael J. Kocik in Milford. She worked at Zimmer for 19 years as an office supervisor until her retirement. The couple then moved to Lady Lakes, FL. They enjoyed going on cruises to see the world, and in 2015 made the move back to Warsaw to be closer to family. Michael would pass away in 2022.

Lutie was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. She was a fantastic cook and loved tending to her flower gardens.

She is survived by her son, Earl (Carmen) Evans of Columbia City; 3 grandchildren: Tye Evans of Spokane, WA, Jayma (Steven) Muston of Fort Wayne and Tyler Smith of Warsaw; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother and 3 sisters. Also surviving are her step-children, Lee (Mark) Baumgartner of Leesburg, Vincent (Bridgett) Baumgartner of Lebanon, TN and Lani (Michael) Marshall of Milford as well as 4 step-grandchildren with a fifth on the way.

Lutie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, son Gary Evans, and 8 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Fr. Joseph Czolgosz officiating.

Burial will be at a later date.
